Little Ripper Care Instructions

What are our beds made from?

At Little Ripper Pet Products, we have thought long and hard about the materials that we use to create our Pet Beds. We think our concept is the perfect solution for busy pet owners, but that was only part of what we wanted to achieve.  We wanted our beds to last the lifetime of your pet. To do that we have put many hours into coming up with how to put the best materials together to ensure our beds are as durable as possible without loosing any of the comfort. It is a bed after all...

Our Pet Bed Base has a shredded foam filling. It is encased with a 600 denire Polyester canvas that has been bonded with a thermoplastic polyurethane membrane to create a fabric that is still flexible for comfort yet durable, waterproof and mildew resistant. We have added a non-slip bottom to the base of the pet bed. The cover can be removed and washed without compromising it's waterproof ability.

The base comes with two Removable Toppers. These Toppers are made from a Polyester Velvet that has been quilted to add durability and to ensure they do not loose their shape.  The tan coloured velvet was chosen on purpose to disguise any stains that do develop over the life of the bed. The cosy quilted velvet is surrounded by the same Polyester canvas as the Base. We have done this for two reasons; firstly it protects the Topper from tearing especially as it is placed under the Velcro so you can repeatedly rip the Topper from the Base for washing. It also there as added protection the Topper from loosing it's shape.

Other companies do provide covers but you have to pay extra for them, and they're not cheap! At Little Ripper, we are all about our customers. That's why we don't charge extra for each Topper. You get the Pet Bed Base and two (2) Removable Toppers. We want you to have the solution all wrapped up in one....

and that's our Little Ripper Pet Bed!

Steps to Clean our Little Ripper Pet Bed

  1. To clean the Removable Topper, simply remove it from the Pet Bed Base. Give it a good shake to remove hair and debris. If your pet is particularly hairy or dirty there is a couple of things you can do. Vacuum the hair and dirt from your Topper, using an attachment on the hose that will allow you to get deep into the seams of the Topper where hair, dirt and flea larvae can get caught. Or, use a stiff brush to loosen any hair or dirt and then give it a good shake. Then simply place it in the washing machine on a cold, delicate cycle using your usual clothes washing detergent. The Topper can be soaked for a period of time if needed. Make sure the Topper is completely dry before storing it or placing it back on the Pet Bed Base.

  2. To clean our Pet Bed Base, spot clean any really dirty bits, urine or faeces.  Do not use any abrasive or bleach based products. Unzip the cover from the foam insert and place it in the washing machine on a cold, delicate cycle using your usual clothes washing detergent. A paste of baking soda and water can be put onto particularly bad stains and left for a while before rinsing off. This has the additional benefit of neutralising odours. Make sure the Pet Bed Base is completely dry before use.

  3. Do not wash the foam insert in the washing machine. If the foam insert does need to be cleaned fill a large tub with cold soapy water and soak for half an hour to an hour, periodically agitating it by hand. Rinse well, until the water is clear and there are no more soap bubbles. Squeeze out as much water as you can. Do not to wring it, as that might distort the filling. Put the bed outside in direct sunlight to dry thoroughly. Turn it a few times through the day to make sure it dries right through.

How Often Should You Clean Your Dog’s Bed?

Now listen, we are not here to tell any of you when to clean your pet bed. We just want to make it easier for you when you do!

We are staying in our own lane but.... we do have a few tips to help you if you need it.

  • Removable Topper Washing Frequency: Aim for a thorough wash every week.

  • Pet Bed Base: Only when you really need to otherwise spot cleaning should be sufficient.

  • Odour Control: If the bed begins to smell, baking soda can be your saviour. Sprinkle it generously, leave for a few hours, then vacuum.

Additional Tips:

  • Dog Hygiene: By ensuring your dog is clean, especially after outdoor activities, you can extend the time between bed washes.

  • Sensitive Dogs: If your dog has allergies, be cautious with cleaning products. Opt for baby or dog-specific products.
